The Los Angeles Philharmonic will bring its Neighborhood Concert series to the Downey Theatre on Thursday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m., offering residents a free orchestral performance close to home.
The program will be led by guest conductor Miguel Sepúlveda, a 2025–26 Dudamel Fellow. Special guest singer Lupita Infante will join the orchestra for a featured segment.
The evening’s repertoire includes Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, Gabriela Ortiz’s La Calaca, and Superbloom, a world-premiere commission by composer Noah Godard. The performance will run without an intermission.
The concert is part of the LA Phil’s ongoing effort to bring live symphonic music directly into neighborhoods throughout Los Angeles County. The event is presented in partnership with Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn and the City of Downey.
Before the performance, visitors can take part in pre-concert activities in the theatre lobby. Stay Arts will present AMIBVALENCE: 15 Years of Stay Arts, a retrospective of the group’s early exhibitions, and the South Gate Museum & Art Gallery will host interactive arts-and-crafts workshops.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Downey Theatre, 8435 Firestone Blvd. Admission is free with RSVP through the LA Phil website.
Parking is available in the Civic Center lot next to the library, though space is limited. Additional parking is recommended at the Downey High School lot on Firestone Boulevard and Brookshire Avenue.
